Calendar Sync
How calendar synchronization works in Samvise
Calendar Sync
Samvise keeps your schedule in sync with Google Calendar automatically. Understanding how sync works helps you troubleshoot issues and get the most out of the integration.
How Sync Works
Reading Your Calendar
Automatic
- When events on your selected calendars change, Samvise picks up the change and adjusts your task schedule
- No manual refresh needed — sync runs in the background
What Gets Read
- Event start and end times
- Event titles
- All-day and recurring events
Only the calendars you select in Settings are read — see Settings.
Writing Your Schedule
"App Schedule" Calendar
When Samvise schedules a task:
- A block is created in Samvise
- A corresponding event appears in the "App Schedule" calendar in Google
Event Details
- Title matches the task title
- Start/end times match the block
Updates Flow Both Ways
- Move or resize a block in Samvise → the Google event updates
- Delete a block → the event is removed
- Change your Google Calendar → your task schedule adjusts around it
Sync Status
Check Settings > Google Calendar for:
- Connection status
- Sync status and any errors
- The auto-sync toggle
Busy Block Detection
What Creates Busy Blocks
Samvise marks time as busy for events on your selected calendars — including recurring events, all-day events, and events from shared calendars you've selected.
How Busy Blocks Work
- Tasks are never scheduled over busy time
- Busy events are visible on the Samvise calendar so you can see your real availability
The "App Schedule" Calendar
Purpose
A dedicated calendar for Samvise-scheduled tasks:
- Separates your task blocks from other events
- Can be shown/hidden separately in Google Calendar
- Keeps your main calendar uncluttered
Managing in Google Calendar
You can:
- Change the calendar's color
- Hide/show the calendar
- Share it with others to show your availability
Avoid editing App Schedule events directly in Google — Samvise manages that calendar, and manual edits there can be overwritten as your schedule updates. Make changes in Samvise instead.
Privacy and Security
What Samvise Can See
From Your Selected Calendars
- Event times (start, end)
- Event titles
- Calendar names
What Samvise Can Modify
- Samvise creates and manages events in its own "App Schedule" calendar
- Your other calendar events are read for availability, not modified
Your Data
- OAuth tokens are stored securely and never exposed to the browser
- Event times and titles from selected calendars are used to plan around your commitments, and may be included when the AI assistant answers scheduling questions — see the Privacy Policy
Troubleshooting Sync Issues
Calendar Not Syncing
Check Connection
- Settings > Google Calendar
- Verify connected status
- If disconnected, reconnect
Permissions
- Google Account > Security > Connected Apps
- Verify Samvise has permissions
- If revoked, reconnect in Samvise
Duplicate Busy Time
If two selected calendars contain copies of the same events, both copies count as busy time. Deselect one of them in Settings > Google Calendar.
Events Not Appearing
Samvise blocks not in Google
- Check the "App Schedule" calendar is visible in Google Calendar
- Verify the connection status in Settings
Google events not in Samvise
- Verify the calendar is selected for sync in Settings
- Confirm the event is on one of your selected calendars
Best Practices
Keep Calendars Updated
- Add commitments to Google Calendar promptly — Samvise can only plan around what it can see
- Include travel time as events
Use One Source of Truth
- Edit your task schedule in Samvise, not in the App Schedule calendar in Google
